My GA handdicapped card was in the windshield and a manual wheelchair and walker plainly visible in our backseat. Asheville Pinball Museum is a fun arcade full of old pinball machines, cabinet games, and retro consoles like the original Nintendo. We live in a tiny Georgia town so permit lots are not something we are accustomed to. The sign was very obvious we just did not see it. Founded in 1998, the museum was the brainchild of Funspot employee Gary Vincent who proposed that they gather all of the aging games in the huge arcade into one spot and start a museum. An hour later we camed out and had a $20 parking ticket for parking in a permit only lot. Someone pulled out of the parking lot across the street and we took the corner spot. There was one, occupied, around the corner and a ramp to reach the level of the pinball museum. There were no handicapped spaces on the main street. The machines are almost all playable, with some dating to the 1970s, newer ones, shooting games, Pac-Man type games, and other things that I have no clue how to operate. Go during the week if you can, as there are very fewer people. I highly recommend a trip to enjoy yourself here. The young man was constantly cleaning the machines and wiping them down. Every 45 minutes they alternated which machines were off limits, so that you could play all of the machines eventually. Alternate machines we're off limits in order to put space between players. They made great accommodations for the current pandemic! Masks required. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. With nearly 40 pinball machines on the floor for play at any given time, the game isn’t over until they cut the power and lock the doors. If you just want to look around, it's free. The Asheville Pinball Museum might be a match. $12 buys you a wristband that gets you all the play you want all day. Went here today and stayed for 5 hours, and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Prior to today I probably played a total of 12 pinball games in my life. If I could give this place more stars, I would! I am not a pinball or video game person. This is a great, affordable option for fun that will take you back to much simpler times. The gentlemen working were incredibly friendly and were always assisting the customers. It costs $12 per person for unlimited play. There is a seating area for those who rather sit while others play and there are snacks for purchase. Above each machine is a sign telling you the history and an interesting fact. The place was very busy on a Friday evening with kids of all ages and adults playing. Play a flat rate admission, no tokens or coins necessary. We planned on staying a couple of hours, but four hours later.we were still going strong and realized we had not eaten. I loved showing my kids the types of things I did for fun as a kid. Right in the middle of downtown, this is the perfect respite from our all to digital world!
